Most likely made in England during the Victorian era (1876-1910)

High -Quality Transitional smoothing plane. Sargent V-B-M (Very Best Made) a branding Sargent started around 1905. No. 34 is the Model Number.
F1 Marking is likely a casting or batch code from the foundry. This narrows down the production era.

Manufactured by Alfred Meakin of Tunstall, Staffordshire, England.
Victorian Style border of the Keswick Pattern. Each stamped w/ the 22k gold marketing marks to take resposibility for the gilded gold edges, or in some cases identify the artist that painted Meakin's design. These plates date back to earlier that 1930 and they r still in premium condition. w/ minimal fading and almost no cracks.
